SweetSalt Food Shop

Since we were teenagers, my best friend, Holland, and I have loved to try new restaurants. She's usually way ahead of me in terms of finding cute new places to eat, but occasionally I come through for us. One day when she was in my neck of the woods (aka "the valley" for you fellow Angelinos/Angels/LA people - bailey what am i trying to say??? haha), and I decided to take her to my favorite new neighborhood place, SweetSalt Food Shop.


Located in the heart of Toluca Lake, this restaurant has something for everyone. From the foodie, to the health conscious, to the gluten-free vegetarian who is incessantly picky (that would be me), their menu pretty much caters to it all.  The place is bright, warm, and the staff is incredibly friendly. 


Our choices:
Holland probably ordered the best thing on the menu - the grilled cheese with avocado. I can tell you it was amazing just by looking at it. 


We were simultaneously introduced to Zapp's Potato Chips. I know what you're thinking (because I thought the same thing when she chose the chips) Gator Tators? Are we in Alabama? (no offense, Mom and Grandma). But I have to hand it to Holland, she knew what she was doing. These were some of the best potato chips I've ever tasted. And this is coming from someone who has never gone buck wild over potato chips. 

Buck wild? My Southern roots are showing. Sorry Bailey. 




My choices were not as exciting, but every bit as delicious. Every day they have homemade dairy-free soups. Tomato basil soup is one of my favorite foods in the world, and theirs is exceptionally delicious. They need to have it every day. Hint hint. 


SweetSalt offers a "create your own" quinoa salad, or regular salad, option. Both are delicious, and today I went for the regular salad. Arugula and organic mixed greens with goat cheese, sun dried tomatoes, squash, drizzled with champagne vinaigrette. Delicious. 



If you live in LA, SweetSalt is a must on your "to visit" list. If you don't, well, you'll just have to live vicariously through us.
