Studio City Farmer's Market

Farmer's Markets have been one of my favorite weekend activities since I was a child. I love looking at different produce and trying all of the food samples at the markets. My favorite Farmer's Market in LA is the Studio City Farmer's Market on Sunday mornings. Below are just a few pictures. I highly recommend checking it out.

It's a great way to spend a weekend morning, and also a great and cost effective way to stock up on organic produce.

Plus, you support local farmer's!

They have THE best crepe stand.

Pluots are my absolute favorite

Their website has some great recipes, and below is one of my favorite's.

Farmers Market Shopping List:

1 grapefruit or pomelo (Ethridge Farms, Arnett Farms, Nicholas Farms, Island Farms)
1 ripe avocado (the grove, Ace Ranch, Valley Center Growers)
1 head butter or other lettuce (Living Lettuce Farms, Scarborough Farms, Menos Farms,
Givens Organics, Berumen Farms, Buenrostro Farms, G&B Farms)
1 orange (Rancho di Rigo, Ricardo Farms, Island Farms, Arnett Farms, The Grove)
fresh ginger (Yang Farms)

1 Oro Blanco or other sweet grapefruit or 1 pomelo, peeled and cut into sections
½ ripe avocado sliced
1/4 cup toasted pine nuts or other nut
1 head butter or other head lettuce (do not use iceberg in this recipe)

Dressing:
3 tablespoons orange juice
5 tablespoons neutral oil such as canola or sunflower seed
1 tablespoon sesame seed oil
2 teaspoons ginger juice (grate about 2 tablespoons ginger, add a little water, puree and
   strain)
sugar to taste
salt and pepper to taste

Toss the grapefruit/pomelo, the lettuce and the pine nuts. Put on plates. Top with the avocados. Mix all of the dressing ingredients and drizzle over the salad.

ENJOY!
