ModCloth

ModCloth is my #1 favorite website for dresses! Any time I have a wedding, bridal shower, baby shower, birthday party, or just want something cute to wear I go to ModCloth! They have a pretty wide price range spectrum so you can always find something you can afford, and usually something you can't, but find a way to make it work.

Every time I get a dress from here I get so many compliments! Seriously, go to the website, you will see what I'm talking about.

This is also where I found my bathing suit, remember? If not you can see it here!

Here are a few pictures of dresses I have ordered from Mod Cloth in the past.

I ordered this dress about a 2 years ago for a friends birthday! I love it and still wear it to work all the time!

Another Wedding ...

                                                                And again a Wedding!

Oh Hey, Another Wedding!

So apparently, most are for weddings! I'll try to take a peek around for more photos of the old dresses I purchased! I still wear all of them every chance I get! They are not only adorable, but they are great quality pieces. I have only had one problem and as soon as I contacted ModCloth they sent a replacement dress out immediately! Great customer service and great clothes! I recommend putting a modcloth gift card on any wish list!

In non-dress related news... here is my winter coat I ordered for my trip to New York last December! Seriously ModCloth is the best for everything.

Check out some of the new stuff on my wish list! It wasn't easy but, I narrowed it down to three!

I know I cant afford this one... But maybe if the right event comes up! The "Wallpaper Party" Dress is $250.00. A girl can dream!

This fun Chevron a Whim dress is on sale for only $51.00! I think it will be perfect for summer picnics or trips to the beach.

This adorable "Field DayDream" Dress is $52.00 and it isn't even on sale! I want to order this one and wear it with a pair of cute cowboy boots, or sandals. I love it!

Gone Girl

I love to read, but I am the type of person who needs a book that hooks you. Well, if you are similar to me, then I have the book for you.
Gone Girl. By Gillian Flynn.

My housemate Phoebe recommended it to me, and I have recommended it to almost everyone I know since then. I took it with me to Florida for my brother's wedding and literally could not put it down. I even chose it over watching my terrible reality shows. (and boy do I love my terrible reality shows!) That should tell you something.

I can't say much about the book itself, because, well, you HAVE to read it. What I can tell you is it's brilliantly suspenseful and will keep you on your toes. The premise is about a marriage gone wrong, and I love the log-line - "marriage can be a real killer."

Do yourself a favor and get this book. I loved it so much, I just purchased "Sharp Objects" from Gillian Flynn.

The Company You Keep

Everyone has different taste in movies. But, if you like fantastic acting, great writing/directing, and a suspenseful story, I have the movie for you. Last weekend, I saw The Company You Keep. So far, it is my favorite movie of the year. The movie is about a former Weather Underground activist who goes on the run when a journalist discovers his identity 30 something years later.
I was so into the movie, and literally sitting on the edge of my seat, that my boyfriend thought something was wrong with me. He said he had never seen me that into a movie. I believe it's a limited release, so check it out while you can. Robert Redford directs and stars in it, as well as Stanley Tucci, Susan Sarandon, Shia LaBeouf, Julie Christie, Nick Nolte, Chris Cooper, and Brit Marling. I know what you're thinking - terrible cast. :)

Have you seen it? Let us know what you think!

Running Shoes

I have learned that paying a bit extra for the right running shoes is VERY important!
I grew up playing soccer and had to deal with shin splints and all the joy that comes years after. I have always enjoyed running, but then would quickly hate it because about  1-2 runs in my shins were a mess. I'd even go buy new sneakers, you know the ones at DSW or Marshals that are like $30-$40. Yeah, not smart. But then I thought I got smarter! I went to a sporting good store and spent more money on a pair of running shoes that were pink, and so cute! Nope, didn't work still had the shin issues.

RunnergyLogo
Well, lucky for me I was given the brilliant advice by my friend Kim of  MileLongLegs to go to Runnergy! Runnergy is a great running shop in Sherman Oaks, Ca. I went in and asked for help immediately.  After asking me a few questions they had me jump on the treadmill and took a look at my form, (or lack there of) and how my feet hit the ground.  In less than a minute, they knew what I was doing and what type of shoe I needed.

The super helpful woman brought out about 5 different pairs of shoes for me to try on. She talked to me about how different shoes support your foot in different ways and explained what the shoes would do to support me. She also gave me some instructions on running with a more mid-foot stride instead of landing on my heel.

Well, I have been so so so excited! I tested them out big time and ran at least 4 mines on the treadmill 3 days in a row, then ran a 10k on the 4th day. Not even the smallest amount of shin pain! Its awesome!

If you enjoy running, or want to get into running take the time to go get some good shoes, and some shoes that are right for you!

The shoes I ended up with are Asics GEL-Neo33. I love love love them! But remember, they may not be right for you, so go have someone take a look at how you are running and get something that will give you less pain and make your run more fun!

Kombucha Dog

Recently, I was inhaling macaroons from Bottega Louie (post here) and I purchased a kombucha to go with my meal of a dozen macaroons. But, it wasn't just any kombucha, it was from a company called Kombucha Dog. If you know us, you know we love dogs, so naturally I became curious as to why there was a picture of a cute puppy on my drink.

One of the bakers at Bottega told me about the company, and that a man combined his love for kombucha with his passion for animals. He set out to create the best kombucha, and put a picture of a dog on the front of every bottle who was in need of a home. I couldn't think of anything more genius.

I highly recommend visiting his website here

If you find yourself in the LA area and looking for a dog to adopt, this is a great company to support. If you find yourself in the LA area and thirsty, this is the drink to buy while supporting a great cause.

Kaeng Raeng

I am ecstatic about this post. Bailey and I are about to try a new cleanse! It's from Kaeng Raeng and it's a 3-6 day cleanse. Each day, you consume three different flavored powders that you mix with 24 oz. of water, almond milk, or hemp milk, and you can consume as many raw fruits and vegetables as you want. Plus you can incorporate some raw nuts as well. It's made of completely natural ingredients and is vegan/gluten free/peanut free/caffeine free. Kaeng Raeng is incredibly affordable ($70 for 3 days or $120 for 6 days!) and is great for those with busy lives who do not have time to stand behind a juicer all day (I would love to meet the person who DOES have time for this).

How It Works: Some of the benefits include jumpstarting weight loss, improved digestion, safely removing toxins from the body, clear skin, repaired hair, improved mood, and a decrease in cravings.

The website also gives you great ideas for how to make smoothies out of your detox powders and change things up!

We will be posting updates soon!

Bottega Louie and their Macaroons

Last night, I went to Bottega Louie for the first time in downtown Los Angeles. I arrived early, so I was left with several minutes to peruse their bakery. I had heard that they make the best macaroons in town, but for some reason, macaroons have never looked appealing to me. So, when my boyfriend got a box for us to try, I decided one bite couldn't hurt. He handed me a bite of the salted caramel macaroon, and my life has forever been changed. Ok, that's dramatic. But seriously, I cannot get over how good these little things are. We tried the strawberry, salted caramel, pistachio, rose, and raspberry. Of the five, we took home another box of just strawberry, pistachio, and salted caramel. If you live anywhere near Los Angeles, and are ever near downtown, you HAVE to treat yourself to these macaroons. I hear they are the best in town, and although I have never had them anywhere else, I can already tell you they are the best macaroons.

Bottega Louie's menu is also divine. I had the diver scallops, which I highly recommend, and a few bites of my mother's truffled mashed potatoes. My boyfriend had their pizza, cooked in their brick oven, and I'm going to guess that it was as amazing as it looked, because he ate the entire pizza. It's just a guess, though.
Beautiful!

For dessert, our table ordered the salted caramel pudding and assorted sorbets. I was too busy devouring my box of macaroons, that I barely noticed the other dessert on the table. However, based on everyone's silence, I think they enjoyed the dessert just as much as the dinner.

Check out their website! www.bottegalouie.com

We are easily amused

Lastly, below you will see a picture of "Kombucha Dog." The incredible genius behind this product, Michael Faye, found a way to combine his two passions, which also happen to be two of my greatest passions - healthy eating and dogs. Every bottle of his kombucha tea has a picture of a local dog in need of a home. Incredibly genius. I will be doing a more in-depth post on this, (see Fido) but in the meantime, please visit www.kombuchadog.com for more information.

Oh, did I mention the Macaroons!
 Presentation is everything

The excitement was too much for me to handle
