Golden Road Brewery

If you are looking for a fun place to go for a quick bite to eat, a long lunch or maybe a fun place to have a birthday party, I have a place for you!

Golden Road Brewery is a fun and delicious brewery! From what all my beer drinking friends say, its pretty delicious. What I love about it is the food and the games.

It is the perfect for a summer day! We have adopted this place as our after hiking lunch spot.  If you are too warm, go inside, if you want to enjoy the weather go in the covered  patio or sit out under an umbrella!

Like I said, they have some pretty delicious beers, so if you want a good beer this is your place!

My only complaint is that they don't have any ciders  or gluten free beer and on a hot day after a hike I'm not in the mood for a glass of red wine.

Oh, and I wish the pretzel was gluten free! Boy is it big and boy oh boy does it look delicious!

Even if you are part of the gluten-free, vegan, or vegetarian crew, you are set here! The menu labels  things that are vegan and most of the vegan meat substitutes are gluten free too! They use corn tortilla's  with their tacos, hearts of palm ceviche, and tostada salad plus their salads are pretty amazing.

My favorite salad is the Coconut "noodle" salad! Everything is delicious so, just try it all! Food and beer, try all the food and all the bear!

There are some great games at Golden Road, one of their games I have never heard of before and I'm still trying to figure it out. Here are the rules for "Aunt Sally" the fun and exciting game where you throw things and knock things over... ok to be honest, I still don't get how to play it but it is fun!

I'm all about the other games where I know what is going on! Give me some life size Jenga and I'm good to go!

And of course Corn Hole! The best outdoor game there is! (I'm actually good at this one so I like it even more!) They also have a ginormous connect 4, foosball, ping pong, shuffle board and a few other things that I just cant seem to remember! SO MANY GAMES!

I'm pretty sure the girls won this one!

There are plenty of other games  to play and it is probably the perfect place to go during football season! If you are in the area check it out!

If you need a reason to go there, check out their Detox/Retox Party August 10th! Join your friends and make new friends as you job, do yoga then enjoy some delicious beer with breakfast at Golden Road!

Golden Road also has a pretty cool blog, you can check that out here!

Society 6

It has been a year since I have lived in my house and I loved decorating it! However, the poor poor kitchen has been neglected. I couldn't figure out what I wanted to do, but at the same time had some grand plans in my mind that only I could see.

Well I stumbled upon Society6 and everything started to fall into place!

If you are unfamiliar with Society6, get ready to be obsessed!

Society6 is a website that artists from all over the word can sell their art! Great for artists right! They have a place to share their work that then creates gallery quality prints! I think even better for me the buyer! Not only do they have excellent prints, but any print you like can be turned in to an iPhone case, a computer cover, t-shirt and pretty much anything else!

Here is what I ordered...

All of the prints I ordered happen to be by the same artist. Her name is Cassia Beck and you can find all of her Society6 prints here

Here are a few other prints that I am in love with!

Ok, I could go on and on forever, but i'm going to stop here! Go check out the site and order something fabulous!

Update Your Kitchen!

So I have been in my house for about a year now, and the only room that has been missing out on the TLC has been the kitchen. I have had plenty of ideas, but nothing really that "spoke to me." Well after I found Society6, and picked out some fun prints, I had a vision and I was ready to go!

here are the prints I ordered from Society6! You can see more about that here!

After looking at the photos, I decided I wanted to make the walls a nice teal color. Matha Stewart to the rescue with  Hummingbird Blue! I only stood in Home Depot for about 30 minutes starting at colors, but I eventually found what I was looking for!

I got up early and started washing walls, dusting baseboards and taping every corner and molding I could find!

Thanks to my super helpful boyfriend, I had everything I needed to get started!

I went to town painting the edges or as he likes to call it "cutting in." This part kinda sucked, I just wanted to get going! But soon enough I was able to grab the roller and go to town!

While I was paining my little heart out, this handsome fella did the tricky stuff! I would never make it as a painter, because I get too excited and I go fast and end up getting paint everywhere. He on the other hand doesn't mind and does a much better job. Thank god he was around!

Here is the just finished wall, It felt like it took forever to dry! After everything was painted about the walls had started to dry we got to rip down all the tape! That part is fun!

Well here it is! the finished product! We still haven't done the cabinets, but the main walls are all set and my prints are hung! Now I just need to pick the perfect color for the cabinets!

What do you think? What color should I try for the cabinets? I'm thinking a light peach or a light pink with a nice white touch up to all the trim!

Trivia

Do you have a bunch of random knowledge about songs from the 80's, famous celebrity birthdays, oscar nominated actresses, all elements on the periodic table, or maybe random sports knowledge? If you have any of this background knowledge, or none of it, King Trivia is for you!

It is so easy and so fun! All you have to do is find a location that is hosting, grab a group of friends (a wide knowledge base is best! Don't invite everyone from you yoga class, mix it up a bit! Be sure to grab some  guys for that special part of their brain that is designated for sports and only sports).

When you get to the bar go find the quiz master and grab some answer sheets! You don't have to register or be part of King Trivia, but if you are you can compete for the Tournament of Champions! Also, if you become a regular make sure you like them of Facebook. Each day there is a Facebook questions posted. Even if you are horrible at trivia you are guaranteed one right answer!

If you need to find a place near you to play, check out the list of venues that host King Trivia! There is something almost every night of the week! You can go anywhere, I recommend smaller places because there tends to be less cheating, but even in small places there are sneaky teams who for whatever reason  suck at being good people. But don't worry about them, you will have a blast and an excuse to get together with your friends every week!

I go to Pineapple Hill every Tuesday night to get my trivia on! I love the quizmaster there and for the most part all the teams are great!

Also, the bartenders and the waitstaff are excellent! Can't complain about the food either! Even if you don't go for trivia, its a great hidden treasure in Los Angeles! Oh and did I mention that there is free popcorn! Like the best free popcorn around! If you go for anything, go for the popcorn!

Like, I said before there are plenty of options for locations, we actually just went to Barney's Beanery in Burbank to try to secure a spot in the Tournament of Champions! This season of trivia just ended so we are waiting to find out if we made it! A new season should  be starting up in August/September so keep your eye out!

If you want to see where we end up check out the Rankings here! Top 70 teams get to compete!! Team Brain Sharts all the way!

Also, if this sounds awesome to you but you don't want to rack your brain, you could always be a quiz master! Do any of you go to a trivia/quiz night?!? I love hearing the names people come up with! If you have a great trivia name, comment below!

Will Rogers Polo Club

If you are looking for something fun and free to do in LA, get ready!

I recently went to the Will Rogers Polo Club for a fabulous Sunday cheese, fruit, and mimosa picnic!

The Menu:

Pretty simple, everyone brought some tasty cheese, crackers, fruit veggies and of course mimosas.

Because it is a state park, you might want to pre-make the mimosas. The mini orange juice bottles are perfect! No cup required and it just looks like a bottle of orange juice!

The Outfit:

You will most likely be sitting up on a beautiful grass knoll watching the game. What a perfect excuse to get out your floppy hat, big sunglasses and lots of sunscreen!

Also, because who doesn't want to live out a scene from Pretty Woman, get dressed up! Make a day out of it! You will have a blast!

The Entertainment:

Ok, now that the game has started, what do you do. Mostly likely, your high school did not have a polo team and you didn't grow up going to watch polo every weekend as a kid. If you did, I'm jealous! Well just so you know how it works, here is a hand link to help you out!

Even if you don't really know what is going on, it is so exciting! As the horses run past you the ground shakes and you can't help but get excited!

It is pretty exciting when they score too. Mostly because the announcer is awesome! He really helps you get into it! Eventually you will start to notice who is really good on the team and you can cheer for them.

At the game we were watching there was a girl named Pam who was pretty freaking amazing! Way to represent girl! She was great and even used her horse really well defensively to block other horses and I kinda wanted to be her!

But not at that very moment because I was still enjoying my mimosa and having the time of my life!

Now, you may not know who Will Rogers is... and thats ok, you can read about him here! All I think you need to know is that the only reason the polo club exists here is because when he gave his land to the State of California, he said the only stipulation was that the polo club must remain active! Take some time to read about him! Talk about a guy I wish I could have met!

And just because I think it is awesome, checkout these old photos from the polo club!

I absolutely love them! There are more on the website you should check out! There are also plenty in color too from more recent games!

They are way better than the photos I took with my iPhone! But you still get the idea!

During intermission or halftime, get off your booty and go stomp those divots!

It is really very fun! Take a walk around and look for divots to stomp back into the grass! It's not often you get to be a part of the game so get out there and enjoy the tradition!

Watch out for manure! Sometimes old manure can look like a clump of dirt, it's not.

When you are all done stomping the divots get back to your seats and get ready for some more fun! It is really very impressive to watch! I am now determined to try it! I will be contacting the polo club to find out about lessons, because umm how fun would that be!

If you are in the area and looking for something fun to do, check our the schedule and find a time to stop on by! There is a parking lot you  have to pay for, but we just parked down the hill a bit and walked, so the whole thing was completely free!

If you have a chance be sure to head over to the Will Rogers State Park! Even if it isn't for Polo, it is absolutely beautiful and great for hiking and exploring!
