Trivia

Do you have a bunch of random knowledge about songs from the 80's, famous celebrity birthdays, oscar nominated actresses, all elements on the periodic table, or maybe random sports knowledge? If you have any of this background knowledge, or none of it, King Trivia is for you!

It is so easy and so fun! All you have to do is find a location that is hosting, grab a group of friends (a wide knowledge base is best! Don't invite everyone from you yoga class, mix it up a bit! Be sure to grab some  guys for that special part of their brain that is designated for sports and only sports).

When you get to the bar go find the quiz master and grab some answer sheets! You don't have to register or be part of King Trivia, but if you are you can compete for the Tournament of Champions! Also, if you become a regular make sure you like them of Facebook. Each day there is a Facebook questions posted. Even if you are horrible at trivia you are guaranteed one right answer!

If you need to find a place near you to play, check out the list of venues that host King Trivia! There is something almost every night of the week! You can go anywhere, I recommend smaller places because there tends to be less cheating, but even in small places there are sneaky teams who for whatever reason  suck at being good people. But don't worry about them, you will have a blast and an excuse to get together with your friends every week!

I go to Pineapple Hill every Tuesday night to get my trivia on! I love the quizmaster there and for the most part all the teams are great!

Also, the bartenders and the waitstaff are excellent! Can't complain about the food either! Even if you don't go for trivia, its a great hidden treasure in Los Angeles! Oh and did I mention that there is free popcorn! Like the best free popcorn around! If you go for anything, go for the popcorn!

Like, I said before there are plenty of options for locations, we actually just went to Barney's Beanery in Burbank to try to secure a spot in the Tournament of Champions! This season of trivia just ended so we are waiting to find out if we made it! A new season should  be starting up in August/September so keep your eye out!

If you want to see where we end up check out the Rankings here! Top 70 teams get to compete!! Team Brain Sharts all the way!

Also, if this sounds awesome to you but you don't want to rack your brain, you could always be a quiz master! Do any of you go to a trivia/quiz night?!? I love hearing the names people come up with! If you have a great trivia name, comment below!

The Graffiti Run

If you haven't done a Graffiti Run yet, go here and sign up! We had heard it was a lot of fun, but it was so early, we were skeptical how just running through some paint would be fun. But boy oh boy is it amazing!

It's a pretty simple concept, you start running and throughout the course there are color stations where people blast you with powdered paint! (Keep your mouth closed!) When the actual race is over there are booths with freebies and  food! We even signed up for a different run while we were there and got a discount!

The group before and after :)

Ladies before and after! They give you color run sunglasses, I recommend wearing them!

Right after the race, we wanted some more color! Little did we know this was still just the beginning!

It just got progressively more colorful! We had so much fun! After we finished the race we participated in the color throw... where BUCKETS of paint were brought in and everyone just threw it around. it was pretty great!  Sign up, its fun and its good exercise!

Team Grilled Cheese!

Have you done a run like this? I loved it! Also, if you have suggestions for other fun runs please share!

Giveaway Time!

OK OK, we have been talking about this giveaway so we figured we should actually show you what you will be getting instead of just talking about it! So here it is!

A fun lil tote bag from Pressed Juicery! Bailey just did the 3day cleanse and absolutely LOVED it! Post is coming soon! Even you feel like going three days without chewing food isn't your thing, you can still rock this fun bag to the farmers market or library!

We made some fun pom pom book marks for the  girls in our book club and figured we would make an extra to give to one of our readers too!

Did I mention book club? Oh yeah, I did. Well the first book we picked was pretty amazing and we think you should read it! So we picked up an extra copy to send your way! We hope you enjoy The Fault in Our Stars as much as we did!

We thought you might get really excited about the book and want to start your very own book club. The only thing you need for a book club, other than the book is some wine! So, we will throw in a cute wine bag to carry to your first meeting!

p.s. as long as you are over 21, we might toss in a bottle :)

Some of our favorite snacks from our Healthy Surprise Box were Thunderbird Energetica Bars, and we think you should give them a try too! Bailey has a slight addiction to the Cashew Fig Carrot bar, so if there is one thing missing when you win, you will know who to blame!

Oh and because we also love everything from our Healthy Surprise Box, you will get $10 off your first month!

We also have some Pureology to send you! Your hair will be so happy! If it could type it would probably leave a comment right now just to make sure you win!

Who the heck writes this blog anyway?

We were in the car the other day, and we realized we had a "Meet Harley and Coco" post, but not a "meet Bailey and Mahaley" post. That shows you where our priorities are. Well, just in case you were losing sleep over who could possibly be sending out all those A Girl's Best Friends Post... your sleepless nights are over! We are here to introduce ourselves!

About Us:
We met in a Pilates class, of all places, and had a mutual friend who suggested we go riding together. We soon realized that horses were not the only thing we had in common.

About Bailey:
Bailey grew up in a teeny tiny town in upstate NewYork called Kendall. She played soccer in high-school, tried to dance a few years but wasn't really coordinated enough, and spent most of her extra curricular time with her horses or just hanging out with friends, listening to country music. (What else are kids in the middle of nowhere supposed to do?)

She went to College at SUNY Cortland to study Speech Language and Hearing Sciences because, her best friend Jenna thought she would be good at it. Turned out, Jenna was on the right and Bailey loved it!
(Jenna is a girl and much prettier than you might assume based on her stick figure version)

The only problem was that as Bailey completed her undergraduate program she quickly realized how much she hated the snow and cold weather! She could not understand how she had lived 21 years of her life in this place!

Even before she graduated she knew she wanted to go to California where it was sunny and beautiful all year long (nobody told her about Rainy February and June Gloom, but life is a compromise). So she  made plans with Aaron to get out of there!

After a few garage sales and double shifts waitressing and working at a local school, she and the handsome prince in this story (Aaron) packed up her trusty steed ( the same Honda Civic she is driving today) with everything they owned (except shoes, she shipped two boxes of shoes to Cali) and drove off across the country!

She started working and then kept working while going to CSULA to get her Masters in Communication Disorders to be a real life Speech Pathologist!  It was a lot of work and a lot of studying, and she wasn't a super fun person to be around because her life was basically working and studying. (ok, you get the point!)

But when all that school junk was over things got much better! She loved working so much, but decided that since she had spent her entire life in some form of school, she needed to have more fun! So, she brought her horse out,  got a dog, started doing improv, hiking, reading fun book (No more text books!), going on trips, staying up past 9:00pm and meeting fabulous people!

One of the many fabulous people she met was Mahaley! After realizing that they were destined to be friends, they started to hang out all the time! Then while celebrating a fake bachelorette weekend, while at a mexican bar, over chips, salsa and some margaritas that they would start a blog!

So they did, and that pretty much brings you up to date!

p.s. Good thing my best friend didn't tell me to go to art school! Am I right!?!?!

About Mahaley:

Food Matters

For the last few years, I have been extremely interested in holistic nutrition and nutritional medicine. So much so, that I am now studying to be a certified holistic nutritionist. I am often asked by friends and family if this type of food is "good" or this type of food is "bad," what are good plant proteins, is meat bad for you, etc.. I love helping others figure out what foods work best for them, and seeing them improve their overall health through the food they eat.

Not everyone can afford a holistic nutritionist or the thousands of books that are out there to educate themselves on a proper diet. The great thing about 2013 is that almost everything you could ever want to know is accessible now on the internet, and at little or no cost. Netflix has hundreds of documentaries geared towards educating its viewers on various topics, and there is no shortage of food related documentaries.

One of my favorite's is Food Matters. I highly recommend you watching the documentary for yourself, but below are some of my top takeaways from the film:

1. Have you ever noticed that when you go to the doctor with a specific problem, you are rarely asked "what are you eating?" Well, that's because less than 6% of graduating physicians in the US receive any formal training in nutrition.

2. Your diet should be at least 51% raw. Anything less than this, and the body will react to the food as if it were a toxin, and release white blood cells.

3. "Superfoods" have the ability to prevent many of the illnesses we suffer from today. (ex: raw honey, goji berries, wheat grass, acai, ginger)

4. In the medical field, "survival" rates have been redefined - "survival" now means having lived only 5 years after initial treatment.

5. In most countries, it is illegal to treat cancer patients with nutritional therapy.

6. Plant based, high fiber diets have allowed cardiovascular-diseased patients to arrest or even reverse the disease as little as one year.

I'll stop bombarding you with facts...the point of this post is to get you thinking about what you eat and how it affects your body. Watch Food Matters, or any other type of food-related educational documentary. What do you have to lose besides an hour of your time?

Gud

I was just about out of my gym bag shampoo and conditioner. (One more than the other because those suckers are never empty at the same time!)

Well, while walking thorough CVS I saw this pretty pink bottle.
I looked a bit closer and saw that it was made by Burt's Bees. I love Burt's Bees. Not since my middle school Bonnie Bell Lip Smackers obsession have I been so committed to a single brands lip balm. So, as a result of my Burt's Bee loyalty I thought I would give it a try. There were two other scents and they also smelled amazing!

You can find all of the products at the Gud Happens website.

After using it for a bit, I have to say, I am quite impressed. It is very light so it doesn't weigh down my hair and it smells amazing. I have also been using and loving the body lotion!

Check it out for yourself and let us know what you think!

Also, if you enter our first ever giveaway you will receive some Gud in your gift bag! All you have to do is subscribe, comment on the blog, follow our twitter and like our facebook! Also, feel free to share with your friends! You get an extra chance of winning for each place you share!

Etsy Shop of the Week: Igor + Andre

If you are interested in new art for your home, Danny Roberts should be on your go-to list. I was introduced to his work by friend Phoebe, who has the coolest piece of art with Radiohead on it that you have ever seen. I went on the hunt to see what else I could find of his, and stumbled upon his Etsy shop, Igor + Andre.

Below are some of my favorites.

His pieces are incredibly affordable, unique, and there is something for everyone. I cannot wait to purchase one.

Be sure to check out his Etsy shop, and his website www.DannyRoberts.com
